History of Giving

The generosity of countless individuals and foundations has sustained the community of Haley House since 1966. Whether you have spent hours washing dishes for Take Back the Kitchen, scrubbed floors in our affordable housing buildings, donated winter gear for guests in the soup kitchen, built raised beds at Thornton Community Gardens & Farms, patronized our Bakery Café in Dudley, or offered your support in any myriad ways, YOU have made Haley House the special community it is today, and we thank you. We fully believe that each gift from the heart–of time, of talent, of resources, of self– is critical to our shared mission of building a more just and compassionate community.

For the first 27 years, Haley House was entirely run by volunteers and subsisted on the donations that came to our doors; volunteers and donations of all kinds are still critical to our work. To learn more about how you can support Haley House:
