Our 17th annual Souper Bowl is approaching! Click here to learn more and get tickets!
Every year in mid-February, our community gathers to share a meal in support of Haley House. Guests choose a handmade bowl, crafted and donated by MassArt students and instructors, and enjoy handmade soups donated by local restaurants and caterers.
In 2009, the Boston Localvores, an informal group interested in supporting the local food movement, approached Haley House Bakery CafĂ© with the concept of a tasting event spotlighting locally sourced soups and the Souper Bowl was born.Â
While traditionally held in the Haley House Bakery Café, in recent years the Souper Bowl has taken place at the Roxbury Innovation Center, while we wait for construction on our new Café space to be complete!
All proceeds from this special event support our many Haley House programs.
In 2011, the third year of the Souper Bowl, MassArt’s Clay for Change student group proposed a partnership to make bowls in support of Haley House, and the Souper Bowl became the fundraiser it is today.
Students and faculty make up to 300 bowls each year–and are kind enough to let Haley House staff try their hands at pottery as well. These bowls are functional while also serving as unique art pieces that Souper Bowl attendees can take home.
We are so grateful to continue our partnership with MassArt’s Center for Art and Community Partnerships and Clay for Change every year!
All of the soups featured at the Souper Bowl are handmade by local chefs. These chefs donate their time to create and serve unique, delicious soups with a variety of flavors–and guests of the event can try them all!

Haley House uses food with purpose and the power of community to break down barriers between people, empower individuals, and strengthen neighborhoods. We believe in radical solutions: solving problems at their root by challenging attitudes that perpetuate suffering and building alternative models.
