The Soup
Kitchen |
The Soup Kitchen is open to
homeless men
for breakfast from 6 A.M. to 9 A.M. We attempt to create a space of refuge from
violence and anonymity in a spirit of welcome. Men engage with us in the running of
the "house." Elderly neighbors join us three evenings each week for food
and companionship. |

| Food Pantry |
Although Haley House currently serves over 35,000 meals each
year in both our morning and elders programs, we know that there are people who are still
hungry. Elders are often lacking sufficient food at the end of each month, and there are
families, especially children, who are seriously undernourished. Since Haley House has
well established access to food and volunteers to help with collection,
distribution, and administration, we are establishing a Food Pantry to reach the hidden
hunger in our community. |

| Whats
Up Magazine |
Whats Up is an alternative arts and
media group helping homeless and at-risk individuals in the
Boston area. Whats Up attempts to link those interested in the arts with those committed to social
justice, and aims to serve the community in two ways:
- As a source of community-based alternative media.
Our content combines entertainment and social awareness in a
way that encourages the entire diverse population of
Greater Boston to be socially conscious and active in
the community.
- As a human service provider, we aid the economically
disadvantaged by offering transitional employment. The
homeless and disadvantaged take part in sales, advertising
and production of the publication.
