This is Barrett Coholan, writing to you from the Haley House Garden blog.
Many of you may know me from the stunning pictures posted from our morning garden shifts. But in case you don’t, I am a sophomore at Boston College and will be volunteering for the entire school year with Haley House as a part of the PULSE program.
It has been a wonderful Fall for the garden staff at Haley House as we have accomplished an awful lot, and we are thrilled with where we stand. We spent the majority of the season working on hoop houses to preserve our garden during the winter months and we only have a few left to do before Christmas break!
Last Saturday, I came in and did something a little different than what I had been accustomed to doing on my garden shifts. Carmine and I basically raked all of Boston–well, maybe that’s an exaggeration–but it sure felt like it. We cleaned up the McKinley Garden and had it looking brand new, without a leaf in sight. This definitely was not an easy task, but I was glad to get it done before the leaves were covered with snow.
I’ll be sure to post again before the Christmas break. Until then, I wish you all a safe and healthy holidays from all of us at the garden staff.
